Cameron Keller : Art + Photoshoot + Interview

Cameron Keller is an artist and model based out of New Mexico.

We got together at a photo studio and created some portraits with an editorial vibe. Below is the photos from our shoot, some of Cameron’s art creations, and also an interview with her.

What formats/mediums do you like to work in?

I primarily work with acrylic paint. I like to add texture and depth to my canvases with clay. While I’m working on large scale murals I use a lot of house paint & spray paint.

“Go piss girl”

“Inspired by the fact that (some) butterflies are scavengers. They’re attracted to the smell of urine, and decomposing flesh. I also think it would be funny if girls could pee as openly as men do.”

What’s your favorite part about modeling?

I think modeling is fun! Honestly, my favorite part is wearing cute clothes, and feeling confident .

Got any favorite quotes?

My favorite quote is a meme about Rudolf haha “deviation from the norm will be punished unless it is exploitable”

What’s your process like in creating your work?

with two kids my creation process is usually pretty chaotic. I get my ideas sporadically & have to keep an ongoing “ideas” list. My stuff is all over the place. I move my things based to wherever the kids are playing.

“Soul collector”

“I have a lot of dreams of this character for some reason”

What’s your favorite movie you’ve seen this year? (It can be old or new, as long as it was new to you)

Favorite movie from this year was Dinner in America

Is what inspires you for modeling different than what inspires you for creating your work?

I think that my inspiration for modeling and creating art comes from the same place. Essentially, trying to capture the art that is being a person into a single moment.

“Center of the Earth”

“A lot of times I’m trying to encapsulate the energy of the desert. I think specifically New Mexico has a lot of portals/unworldly things going on.”

Favorite pizza toppings??

My favorite pizza topping is green chile.

What’s your unwinding routine?

I like to unwind by running the ditch banks. It forces me to focus on breathing, and my environment.

What was one of your favorite days of 2024?

My favorite memory this year was when we irrigated our back field in the middle of summer. We all played in the shallow water at sunset. It was gorgeous, and such a simple, fun memory.

“Portals” also New Mexico desert energy

Stelli in Studio + Interview

Stelli and I shot in the studio using lots of Saran Wrap, flowers and bodysuits.

Shooting with Stelli is always a blast. She’s not only a very talented model, but also very down to earth and full of new ideas and concepts.

Here is a short interview with her:

Got any favorite quotes?

My favorite quote is from the book The Little Prince, “ it is only with the heart one can see rightly, anything essential is invisible to the eye”.

What’s your favorite movie you’ve seen this year? (It can be old or new, as long as it was new to you)

My favorite movie I watched recently this year was The Breakup with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. I definitely needed that moving on after my own breakup and the realness mixed with the humor really helped me feel more content with what I was going through.

What’s your favorite part about modeling?

My favorite part of modeling is getting to really connect with myself and my physical appearance. I’m definitely in my head a lot and it’s nice to be able to put away the glasses and business casual attire and not think about my “real” life, and take the time to go back to my little girl roots of just wanting to play dress up. And even during those more awkward shoots where I’m doing something random, I still feel very connected to my body and get to separate whatever is in my head at the time to be in the shoots.

What’s your unwinding routine?

Favorite unwinding routine. I definitely keep it pretty easy, I’m not a whole 10 step skincare girly. But more on the side of I smoke a little bit of weed then just do what my body needs. Sometimes I’ll go for a walk or do some yoga, others I just take a shower and listen to some music. I also really like cooking and baking so a lot of the times my day ends with putting on a vinyl making some food. Meditating is also a big thing for me, I don’t have any type of routine, but just taking a few minutes or however to let my breath and thoughts settle.

Favorite pizza toppings??

Pizza is definitely green chili (im addicted) and pepperoni. I also can go for Hawaiian or BBQ chicken because pineapple can belong on pizza.

If you could travel anywhere, what’s at the top of your list?

If I could go anywhere definitely Wales or Spain. Wales just seems absolutely beautiful. And my family has roots in Spain so it would be really nice to see where we come from and experience the culture.

16 bit Worlds

Recently I’ve been experimenting with creating 16 bit photo hybrids.

The environments are either photos I’ve taken that I converted to 16 bit, or they are entirely made up thru Photoshop/AI image building tech.

Stephen Jacobsen on the left, Sydney Tyra in the middle, and KittyCamTime on the right.

For this shot, which was inspired by retro 2d fighting video games, I created from 2 photos I took of Sydney and Kitty Cam Time, and then I had my friend Stephen send me a selfie. I then generated the background, tweaked the trees, buildings, etc.. Then placed the 3 models in the shot.

Below are the original photos of the models.

This next shot below features RopeBaby and Sydney Tyra.

(and there are two crops of it, because I can’t decide which I like more) Here’s the first one;

RopeBaby on the left and Sydney Tyra on the right

And now the second

This one was fun to make. The tone is much more whimsical/ethereal. I generated the initial background, then added clouds in, added more fire near Sydney, created the wings that Rope Baby has, and then placed Rope Baby and Sydney into the shot.

Below are the original photos I took of Rope Baby and Sydney.

And here’s one more shot. This one is a spooky setting and just features Rope Baby on an eerie night.

For this one, I wanted to switch it up. So I placed Rope Baby in the foreground for a different type of shot. (Instead of seeing the full body, like in the other shots above)

Here is the original shot of her from our shoot.

I always enjoy experimenting and creating art, and making these has been a blast. (especially because the final products looks so fun)

Keep an eye on this publication for more creations.

Best,
